Assistant Band Director Email: ziggy.santana@hayscisd.net Sigifredo "Ziggy" Santana Jr, percussionist, currently lives and works in San Marcos, TX. Receiving his Bachelor’s in Percussion Performance at Texas State University under the direction of Robert Lopez, Ziggy has appeared as a soloist with the percussion ensemble, University Singers Choir and Cello Studio performing marimba works such as: Ney Rosauro's Marimba Concerto, William Chan's Marimba Concerto, Eric Ewazen’s Marimba Concerto and many more. In 2014, Ziggy was appointed Faculty at the Luzerne Music Center for Percussion Performance where he was able to teach aspiring young students from all over the world and perform with other faculty artists. Ziggy also serves as the percussion specialist for the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio for their Summer Symphony camps. As an active chamber percussionist, Ziggy has the opportunity to perform at various conventions such as the Southwest Regional CBDNA conference, the Texas Music Educators convention and WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Serving as principal timpanist for the Texas State Symphony Orchestra, member of the Texas State Wind Symphony and Texas State Percussion Ensemble, Ziggy has been able to expand his knowledge of both classical and modern repertoire both as a chamber musician and as a soloist. As an educator, Ziggy has worked with various local high schools as a consultant for concert literature as well as working with the marching band and teaching lessons from ages 11-18. Currently, Ziggy is the Private Lesson instructor for all of Hays CISD and New Braunfels High School, reaching a studio of over 40 students! |
